August 16, 2007

Corvettes for Kids, Inc. thanks the community for a job well done!  Sunday, August 12, 2007, was a beautiful day in many ways.  The weather was beautiful but so were the hearts of many individuals who made the Corvettes for Kids event possible.  Volunteers, spectators, sponsors, and Corvette and muscle car owners turned out in force.  The day offered something for everyone—cars, music, food, entertainment, raffles, Rita’s “Cool Wheels,” an auction, games, and show t-shirts.

Our 2007 spokeschild was Ally Heintz, and we were privileged to have her dad, sister, grandparents, extended family, and friends join us at the show.  Ally and her mother remain in Pittsburgh where Ally continues to recover from a recent multi-visceral transplant (liver, pancreas, stomach, and small bowel).  Please continue to remember the family during this exciting and “adjusting to change” time in their lives.  Ally will face a lifetime of anti-rejection drugs and the stresses that go with balancing them.

It was great to personally speak to crowds of attendees who truly understand what Corvettes for Kids is about:  raising money for a child and his/her family who need the help of a community to get them through a difficult time.  The family expressed their sincere appreciation to the organization, and the organization, in turn, thanks you for a great 2007 show.  The show raised $51,000 for this deserving family; expenses will need to come out of that amount, but when all is totaled, the day was a huge success.
